Kwankwaso alleges plot by opposition parties to disrupt Kano LG polls

-

KANO — Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and leader of the Kwankwassiya movement, has raised alarms about alleged plots by opposition political parties to disrupt the ongoing local government elections in Kano State. Kwankwaso made these allegations after casting his vote at his ward in Madobi Local Government Area.

According to Kwankwaso, he has received credible information indicating that opposition parties are using financial incentives to incite violence during the elections. He claimed that substantial sums of money have been disbursed to party chairmen and their thugs to hire vehicles, specifically Volkswagen Golfs, and arm themselves with dangerous weapons intended for intimidating voters and sabotaging the election process, including breaking ballot boxes.

“This is not proper, and we have informed those concerned, especially the security agencies, to take the necessary measures to prevent any disruptions,” Kwankwaso stated. He urged his supporters and the youth in his movement to remain vigilant and ensure that the election proceeds smoothly without interference.

Despite his concerns about potential violence later in the day, Kwankwaso expressed satisfaction with the current state of the election process, describing it as peaceful and fair so far. He remains hopeful that measures will be taken to safeguard the integrity of the elections in Kano.
