In her statement, Ohanenye characterized the current situation as a “test of time,” describing it as a significant spiritual journey that cannot be halted by any individual. She articulated her belief that President Tinubu is destined to rectify the issues facing the country and vowed to stand alongside him until the very end. “Let’s be optimistic that Nigeria will be great!” she declared passionately, reflecting her resilience and determination.
On October 24, shortly after her removal, Ohanenye expressed her gratitude in a letter to the President, stating that it had been an honor and a privilege to serve as a minister. She reiterated her commitment to continue contributing to Nigeria’s development in any capacity she can, emphasizing that her dedication to the nation’s progress remains unwavering.
Ohanenye was among several ministers relieved of their positions during a cabinet reshuffle announced by the President. This reshuffle also included the removal of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman; the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo; and the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim. The changes were made public in a statement from the President’s special adviser on social media, Dada Olusegun.
In addition to the dismissals, the reshuffle included the re-assignment of ten ministers to new portfolios, the nomination of seven new ministers for Senate confirmation, and the appointment of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission. Jumoke Oduwole was appointed as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, while Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was named Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
