Speaking to People, Renner explained that Ava “sort of inserted herself into that scenario by writing the essay early on,” and when he finished writing the book, he asked if he could include it at the beginning.
He admitted he had forgotten she would also be part of the audiobook until recently, saying it filled him with pride.
“I was just reminded and so proud of how far we’ve come as a family, how far we’ve come as father and daughter,” he said.
Renner, who shares Ava with his ex, Sonni Pacheco, has always been protective of his daughter’s privacy and rarely posts her pictures online. But this time, he said, was different.
“I’m just very proud of her and how far she’s come,” he said, recalling how special it felt to see her involved in the project.
The Mayor of Kingstown star previously shared a short clip of Ava working on the project, showing their close bond.
