Max Ehrich, an actor best known for his role in The Young and the Restless and his brief engagement to singer Demi Lovato, has been arrested in Florida after allegedly assaulting a family member.
According to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ, Ehrich was taken into custody on Tuesday night and charged with battery on a person aged 65 or older, a charge that falls under domestic violence since the alleged victim is a family member. He was later released from jail on a $1,000 bond on Wednesday.
The arrest followed a series of worrying online appearances from the actor earlier in the day. Fans had expressed concern after Ehrich went live several times on Instagram, where he appeared visibly distressed and was said to be acting erratically while making cryptic comments. During one of the livestreams, his mother was reportedly in the room, though it is not clear if she is the family member referenced in the domestic violence charge.
Ehrich, 33, gained fame for portraying Fenmore Baldwin in The Young and the Restless, appearing in more than 120 episodes. He has also featured in films including High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Southern Gospel, and A Cowboy Christmas Romance.
The actor’s arrest marks a troubling turn for the former fiancé of Demi Lovato. The two began dating in early 2020 and got engaged just four months later after Ehrich proposed in July. However, by September of that year, the couple had called off their engagement, bringing an abrupt end to their whirlwind romance.
