A notorious leader of the Tren de Aragua gang plunged to his death after falling from an eighth-floor balcony while attempting to escape authorities who were raiding his apartment in Colombia.

The deceased was identified as Ender Alexis Rojas Montan, 31, a leader of the gang’s Alayon Dynasty branch. He plummeted eight stories and appeared to die instantly, according to video footage of the incident.

The attempt to flee occurred on October 9 in Antioquia, Colombia, as Colombian National Police officials, supported by a multi-national operation, were breaking down his door with a battering ram. Body camera footage shows Rojas Montan trying to scale the balcony railing in a bid to reach the floor below. Instead, he lost his grip and fell to the concrete sidewalk. An officer peering over the railing captured a view of Rojas Montan’s body on the sidewalk.

Inside the apartment, officers burst in with guns drawn and ordered the remaining suspects to surrender. Three other alleged members of the criminal organization—Luis Alberto Cabeza Calderon (alias “Toro”), Yonathan Samuel Urbina Rodriguez, and Daviannys del Jesus Moya Avila—all from Venezuela, were arrested at the scene. Cabeza Calderon is reportedly a trusted ally of the Tren de Aragua’s top leader, Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores.

During the search, authorities discovered multiple items of contraband, including a fragmentation grenade and a pound of amphetamine valued at $9,550.

The October raid, dubbed “Operation Shadow 3,” was a joint effort carried out by Colombian, Chilean, and Peruvian authorities with backing from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Ameripol.

Rojas Montan was wanted by international authorities for aggravated kidnapping and his criminal association with the larger Tren de Aragua gang, which was founded in Venezuela. Rojas Montan had fled Chile in June 2024 and relocated to Colombia, where he was allegedly working to expand the gang’s operations. The three surviving suspects arrested were allegedly involved in the gang’s expansion, managing synthetic drug distributions, extortion networks, and sexual exploitation operations.
